The Original Malted Milk Drink: Loved for 150 Years Back in 1873, Horlicks was founded by two brothers, James and William Horlick, as the first dried milk product, developed to support infants and those of poor health. From these humble beginnings, Horlicks went on to nourish soldiers through two world wars and fortify athletes in the Olympics, even supporting explorers across poles. In 1906, the brand was first made in the UK and began to make an impact with all ages, which it still does today.
Historically a bedtime drink, Horlicks is really about helping you take a moment just for you. 150 years later, the distinctive malt flavor is still at the heart of everything we do - known and loved across the world.
Take a Moment with Horlicks Horlicks Drinking Powder is a nourishing malted drink made with malted barley, wheat, and dairy ingredients. It is packed with delicious goodness and 14 key nutrients, yet free from artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, or preservatives, making it suitable for vegetarians.
Enjoy Horlicks Hot or Cold To enjoy Horlicks hot, simply add 2 tablespoons (30g / 1oz) to 8oz of hot milk, stir well, and savor the unique malty taste. For a refreshing cold drink, blend 2 tablespoons (30g / 1oz) of Horlicks with 8oz of ice-cold milk and serve in a tall glass.
Bake with Horlicks Explore our tasty recipes to enhance the flavor of your cooking and baking with Horlicks, such as Horlicks Malted Shake and Horlicks Gingerbread Biscuits.
Horlicks Malted Shake 1. Place all the ingredients (5 fl oz milk, 2 tablespoons Horlicks Original, 1 scoop vegan frappe powder, 7 oz ice) into a blender and blitz at full speed. 2. While the shake is blending, pour caramel sauce into a traditional milkshake glass or takeaway cup. 3. Once smooth, pour the shake into the glass or cup. 4. Top with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.
Horlicks Gingerbread Biscuits 1. Preheat the oven to 356°F. 2. Sieve the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger, cinnamon, and Horlicks into a medium bowl. 3. Beat the sugar and butter until light and fluffy, then add the flour mixture and knead to form a dough. 4. Roll the dough to a tenth of an inch thick, cut into shapes, and bake for 12 minutes until light brown. 5. Allow the biscuits to cool and decorate with a Horlicks buttercream.
Sunday Brunch Pancakes 1. Sieve the flour, Horlicks, baking powder, and cinnamon into a bowl. 2. Whisk the egg and milk together, then gradually add to the flour mixture. 3. Melt the butter and stir into the batter. 4. Cook the pancakes in a non-stick pan until light and fluffy. 5. Serve with blueberries and a drizzle of maple syrup.
